In Case of a Medical Emergency
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 or proceed directly to your nearest Emergency Department.
Recognising Red Flags in Recovery
Everyone’s recovery is different. However, if any of the following symptoms appear — particularly if they worsen — please seek urgent medical advice:
  • Shortness of breath, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing – seek emergency care
  • Sudden or asymmetrical leg swelling e.g. calf swelling – seek emergency care
  • Excessive or persistent bleeding
  • Pain that is severe or unrelieved by prescribed medication
  • Vomiting or nausea that prevents you from keeping fluids down
  • Wound discharge that is yellow, green, or foul-smelling
  • Fever, chills, or feeling unwell
  • Redness, heat, or swelling increasing around the incision
For Non-Urgent Post-Op Queries
If you have a general question (e.g. dressing care, drain volume, bruising), please first refer to your written post-operative instructions, as many common questions are addressed there.
